2020 NFL Mock Draft Picks 21-32

With the NFL Draft tonight KHTK staffers Charles T. Hamilton (even #’s)and Chris Watkins (odd #’s)alternate selections to form their official 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Part 1 & 2
#22. Minnesota – Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Logic: With Xavier Rhodes getting cut it leaves a hole at cornerback for the Vikings. They could also use another wide receiver after trading away Stefon Diggs, but with 2 first round picks they’re able to wait to fill that need.
Fit: At 6’0, 197 pounds he is the ideal size for a cornerback in today’s NFL. He is very good in man to man coverage which will help that D-Line get after the quarterback.
Counter Analysis (CW): The Viking may go receiver with the first of their two selections. With their major holes being at WR and CB, would Minnesota make sure they get their Stefon Diggs replacement ASAP?
#23. New England – Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Logic: The Tom Brady era is over and although the Patriots could go with other QB prospects later (Hurts, Eason, Fromm) but not every franchise QB can be selected in the 6th round. Love is a tantalizing prospect with NFL-ready arm strength and more than enough athleticism to open up New England’s playbook in ways they were never able to before.
Fit: If you listen to people out in Boston, Jarrett Stidham is the guy and won’t be easily replaced regardless of who they potentially bring in. If you listen to people who saw Jarrett Stidham play at Auburn, then sure Love will have to work to claim the QB1 slot, but it will be far from an insurmountable task.
Counter Analysis (CTH): Having lost so many pieces on defense this offseason they should look to fill some of those spots. Quarterback is also a major hole after Tom Brady left, but it seems more like Bill Belichick to take some quarterback we’ve never heard of in the 4th round and turn him into a pro bowler, doesn’t it?
#24. New Orleans – Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Logic: After Vonn Bell signed with the Bengals in free agency, Safety became the biggest need for the Saints. Wide receiver could also be added here but again, with the receiver depth in this class they can wait to add one and fill another need in the first round.
Fit: Delpit is a different type of safety than Vonn Bell. More physically imposing at 6’2, 213 pounds he has the ability to line up all over the field on defense. Still good in coverage at his size, missed tackles were a problem for him last season at LSU.
Counter Analysis (CW): With so many quality cornerbacks, edge rushers, and receivers still available I wonder if New Orleans looks at other ways of improving on some defensive holes.
#25. Minnesota – Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
Logic: 6’3, 4.38 – second 40 (WR 3rd), 6.66 -second 3 cone drill (1st). Not only is Mims an absolute measurable FREAK, his tape shows him using every bit of his ridiculous athleticism in his play.
Fit: With Stefon Diggs being moved this offseason, the Vikings are in need of big play talent on the outside, insert Denzel Mims. Adam Thielen is much more of a possession receiver and someone for Cousins to eye down on 3rd down situations, Mims can fit right in to the Stefon Diggs role and take the top off of defenses while also having the ability to take even a slant route to the house.
Counter Analysis (CTH): None. They need a receiver and got one thats 6’3, and runs a 4.38 forty yard dash. But we all know Mike Zimmer is a defensive coach and could look for more defense here.
#26. Miami – Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia
Logic: Again, when you get yourself a young quarterback like Tua Tagavailoa, you have to get him weapons, and protect him. They already got him the weapon with pick #18 in Justin Jefferson. Now they get him some protection with Wilson from Georgia.
Fit: Wilson is a physical beast! He is 6’6, 350 pounds and carries it well. Mekhi Becton is the only prospect in this class bigger than Wilson. While Wilson is still raw there are only so many human beings on this earth with his combination of size, power, strength, and athleticism. If he doesn’t work out at tackle you can also try him at guard.
Counter Analysis (CW): The logic is there…PROTECT TUA, that is it.
#27. Seattle – AJ Terrell, CB, Clemson
Logic: The Seahawks never EVER do anything normal with their draft picks, you can never project who they are going to take or even what position they are looking at here, I went with who I believe is the best corner left.
Fit: Seattle could use this pick on O-Line which they desperately need, I don’t think there are any players available worth the pick. You can never have enough secondary help and Terrell is good enough to compete with Quinton Dunbar and Shaquill Griffin and restore some of the BOOM to Seattle.
Counter Analysis (CTH): It seems like the Seahawks could always use a receiver. Even though they signed Greg Olsen this offseason they could reach for a tight end here and let them learn behind Olsen for a year.
#28. Baltimore – Zack Baun, LB, Wisconsin
Logic: Besides maybe one receiver at the right time, the Ravens should go heavy defense in this draft. They were able to address their d-line in free agency but still have a major hole at inside linebacker and lack depth at outside linebacker.
Fit: Baun spent most of his time at Wisconsin as a pass rusher. But when asked to play off the ball he showed more than enough ability to have a future there. At 6’3, 238 pounds he lacks ideal size for a primary edge rusher but has enough ability to add depth there. His versatility is a major selling point and a creative defensive coordinator should be able to get a lot out of him.
Counter Analysis (CW): I’d like to see Baltimore go receiver here. I know they just took “Hollywood” Brown in last year’s draft, however Lamar Jackson struggled to get the ball to the outsides last season and getting him another target who can separate from defenses.
#29. Tennessee – Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE, Penn State
Logic: Tennessee’s biggest needs to me are WR and LB, however if Gross-Matos is on the board at this point, Tennessee would be foolish to pass up on him.
Fit: The Titans defensive line is by no means a stout group, Jurrell Casey lead the group last season with 5.0 sacks. Gross-Matos is an effective pass rusher and run defender who posted at least 8.0 sacks in each of the past two seasons and 33.5 tackles for loss in that 23-game stretch
Counter Analysis (CTH): Derrick Henry is what makes this team go. Knowing he is unhappy being franchise tagged could we see the first running back come off the board here. At worst to take the place of Henry during a potential holdout. At best to back up Henry and take some of the load off of Henry and potentially prolong his career.
#30. Green Bay – Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State
Logic: Aaron Rodgers has been the best quarterback in the NFL playing with second rate receivers his entire career. Imagine what he would do with a top tier receiver like Aiyuk.
Fit: Scouts love Brandon Aiyuk. He is the kind of guy that doesn’t have elite size at 6’0, 205 pounds. Or great speed (4.5 forty yard dash). But neither of those things stop him from doing the things that bigger faster receivers do. His ability as a punt and kick returner is an added bonus for whatever team gets him.
Counter Analysis (CW): Full disclosure, I can’t stand the Packers (I’m a Vikings fan). If the Packers take Aiyuk I wouldn’t be very happy. His combine numbers don’t leap off the page, his size isn’t the most impressive, but the dude is a baller. You’d never be able to tell he had one of the slower 40 times for a receiver, he plays with breakaway speed and superstar playmaking. Aiyuk is a local guy, he is from Rocklin and attended Sierra Community College before transferring to ASU, I can’t help but to root for him regardless, lets just hope for my sake he doesn’t end up in Green Bay.
#31. San Francisco – Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
Logic: The 49ers biggest weakness in the postseason was inconsistent play in the secondary. With CeeDee Lamb being their selection at #13 the 49ers can go full throttle on improving an already dominant defense and adding depth along the offensive-line.
Fit: Emmanuel Mosley stabilized the 49ers secondary when things seems like they were going south and could be rewarded with a starting spot, however with the addition of an incredibly dynamic athlete like Trevon Diggs, who also returned kicks for the Crimson Tide, could be the perfect fit next to Richard Sherman to give San Francisco the true lockdown defense they appeared to be last season.
Counter Analysis (CTH): If the 49ers were going to look for another defensive lineman in the first round it would be with this pick, not the 13th pick. A trade down here would make sense as well.
#32. Chiefs – Terrell Lewis, EDGE, Alabama
Logic: This is a tough one because linebacker is the Chiefs biggest need at the moment, but with no linebackers worthy of this pick they take the pass rusher Terrell Lewis out of Alabama.
Fit: Injuries slowed his career down in 2017 and 2018. Besides Chase Young he has more upside than any other pass rusher in this draft. If he can stay healthy and reach his potential the Chiefs will have a dominant defensive line with Frank Clark, Chris Jones, and Terrell Lewis.
Counter Analysis (CW): Linebacker is the position Kansas City should be going for here, but with all the top talent gone, KC should just go with best available player, maybe we could see our first running back go at the tail end of the first round.
