Bob Melvin is now the winningest manager in Oakland A’s history and one of the more beloved people in the entire organization.

When the team announced today that they are exercising the option on his contract for the 2022 season, it sure seemed like an absolute no brainer.

Melvin has been great in the green and gold.

His record is a stellar (808-715) in his now 10 plus seasons in the East Bay. He moved ahead of Tony LaRussa for most wins in Oakland A’s history earlier in the season and has won manager of the year three different times including twice with the A’s. Former and current players love him and he has a perfect demeanor to guide this team.

It was an easy choice but still the right thing to do. Good on you A’s and good for you Bob Melvin.
