The Kings center will be sidelined for the next two games before being re-evaluated
Sacramento Kings center Richaun Holmes will not play on Friday or Saturday night after suffering a right eye laceration during Wednesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic.
Holmes was struck in the face by Magic center Mo Bamba midway through the second quarter of Sacramento’s 142-130 win and did not return.
According to a release from the Kings, Holmes underwent a successful procedure at Kaiser Permanente on Thursday to repair a right eye laceration and also underwent concussion screening. The 28-year-old was cleared of any concussive event and is expected to make a full recovery.
Holmes suffered an eye contusion injury to the same eye (right) back on November 22nd.
Sacramento will hold Holmes out of Friday’s game against Charlotte and Saturday in Cleveland before further assessing the center’s return to action.
Charlotte will be without five players on Friday due to COVID-19 protocols:
- LaMelo Ball
- Mason Plumlee
- Terry Rozer
- Jalen McDaniels
- Ish Smith
