Alvin Gentry is moving from the bench into the front office.

According to Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic, Gentry has joined the Sacramento Kings front office in a full-time role as Vice President of Basketball Engagement.

Gentry, 67, acted as Sacramento’s interim head coach for the final 65 games of the 2021-22 season following Luke Walton’s dismissal.

In his new role with the organization, Gentry will assist with player evaluations, and advise strategy using his vast coaching experience and relationships, per Sean Cunningham of Fox 40.

Gentry was present at the NBA Draft Combine this week along with Kings general manager Monte McNair and the rest of the team’s front office.
