49ers Dre Greenlaw, Charvarius Ward return to practice Thursday

The 49ers seem to be getting healthier and healthier as the week progresses towards Week 5’s showdown with the Cowboys.
The San Francisco 49ers welcomed a number of players back to the practice field Thursday, with linebacker Dre Greenlaw and cornerback Charvarius Ward being the biggest names. The former missed Wednesday’s session with an ankle injury sustained in Week 4, while the latter is dealing with a lingering issue with his heel. Both men are expected to play against Dallas on Sunday night.
The Red & Gold also saw wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings on the practice field for a second straight day. Samuel has been dealing with rib and knee issues since Week 3’s win over the New York Giants, playing through the discomfort in Week 4. Meanwhile, Jennings missed Week 4 with a shin issue, unable to suit up for practice all last week. Both men also seem on track to feature on offense in Week 5.
Additionally, running back Christian McCaffrey and left tackle Trent Williams returned Thursday after having veteran rest days to start the week.

The 49ers’ only absence was RB Elijah Mitchell (knee), not visible during the media portion of practice. The lower-body ailment kept the talented ballcarrier away from the team last Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, and could do the same thing this weekend as well. Mitchell was in-and-out of the lineup last season with knee injuries, playing in only five contests.
