Sadly another 49ers star is likely to miss Week 3’s clash with the Rams, with George Kittle being the latest victim of the injury bug.

The San Francisco 49ers have officially listed the All-Pro tight end as doubtful for Week 3. Kittle was a surprise addition to the injury report this week when he missed Thursday’s practice due to hamstring tightness. Coach Kyle Shanahan delivered the news after practice Friday, as the team now looks to get by without one of their best run blockers on the outside.

Kittle logged a full practice Wednesday, but complaining of soreness after the session. Still dealing with pain the following morning, the Red & Gold decided to hold him out, now lingering into weekend whether he will play or not Sunday in Los Angeles. While the injury seems to be minor, an early-season tissue ailment makes sense for the team to be precautious.

The same goes for cornerback Charvarius Ward, also questionable for Week 3. The Pro Bowler was a late add to the injury report Thursday due to both hamstring and knee issues. While he returned to the practice field Friday, his status is still in question.

Additionally, wide receiver Deebo Samuel is officially out for Week 3, nursing a calf strain.

More on 49ers TE George Kittle

Kittle, 30, is also a staple in the NFL community, both for his on-field performance and off-the-field personality. The People’s Tight End has rebounded from an injury-laden 2020 season to only miss seven contests combined since. In 2023, the University of Iowa alum had his second All-Pro season of his NFL career, recording 1,020 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 65 catches. He is a two-time All-Pro and a five-time Pro Bowler.
