The San Francisco 49ers are looking a little healthier Friday, with two key starters returning to the practice field.
Running back Christian McCaffrey and linebacker Dre Greenlaw were seen during the media portion of 49ers practice Friday, an indication that both men are trending in the right direction. The former was only seen doing work off to the side, however, while the latter looked to be working with the team in an unlimited fashion.
McCaffrey is the biggest unknown of the two, working through an oblique injury suffered in Week 6’s loss. Unable to suit up Thursday, his appearance on Friday bodes well for the player, especially after tests revealed encouraging results.
“I thought it was,” Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday about CMC’s MRI. “Anyone who is day-to-day means they got a chance [to play].”
The 49ers officially listed McCaffrey as a non-participant for Friday, but the players’ intention to play in Week 7 is abundantly clear.
It guarantees nothing in terms of his availability for Monday night but earlier this week, #49ers RB Christian McCaffrey asked Kyle Shanahan to not take anything out of game plan and to prepare for McCaffrey to play, even if he doesn't take practice reps.
His intent is clear.

As for Greenlaw, he missed Week 6 due to a hamstring injury suffered during practice last week. Missing practice Thursday, his inclusion Friday could put him on track to play in Week 7.
However, both wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) did not appear on the practice field Friday. Samuel got hurt on the opening play of Week 6, and was pulled at halftime due to upper body discomfort. Williams injured his ankle later in the game, returning in hobbled fashion last Sunday. His absence could be seen as a precursor for not playing in Minnesota on artificial turf.
Lastly, left guard Aaron Banks returned to practice in a limited fashion Friday. He missed the previous day with an ankle injury.
