Beathard nor former 49ers quarterback Brian Hoyer hasn’t worked out for the team. Before being released on October 30, Hoyer completed just 58 percent of passes and had a 4-4 TD-INT ratio.
Since taking snaps, Beathard has completed just 54.9 percent of passes and holds a 4-6 TD-INT ratio.
The team traded their second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft for Garoppolo just minutes before cutting Hoyer.
After taking over under center on Sunday against the Seahawks for the hurt Beathard, who left with an apparent leg and hip injury, Garoppolo completed 2 of 2 passes for 10 yards and a touchdown.
Garoppolo is carrying a heavy burden as the potential future quarterback for a team that is 1-10 this season. After playing behind Tom Brady for three years in New England, he finally has his opportunity to lead an NFL franchise starting Sunday.
