It took until the final week of OTAs, but Jauan Jennings is back with the 49ers. And it appears for more than this season.

Reports surfaced Wednesday afternoon that the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver had agreed to a two-year deal with the deal, worth up to $15.4 million. The deal includes $10.5 million guaranteed, giving him more money and contract flexibility in the long run. Instead of signing his one-year restricted free agent tender, both parties find common ground on deal to keep Jennings through the 2025 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first with the news, as the 49ers themselves confirmed the deal thereafter.

Jauan Jennings, 26, has been integral part of SF’s receiving corps for a few years. Drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee native has climbed the depth chart every step of the way. He has only grown with opportunity under coach Kyle Shanahan, both as a pass catcher and as a blocker.

Jennings’ numbers may not speak volumes (963 receiving yards in three seasons), but his value to the 49ers’ offense is unmeasurable at times. Dubbed “Third & Jauan”, the University of Tennessee alum has come up with crucial third-down catches the past two years.

He is also coming off the best playoff run of his career, amassing 110 yards. Jennings also threw a touchdown pass during Super Bowl LVIII, showing his versatility across the board.

The seventh-rounder had initially agreed to his RFA tender this offseason, but never formally signed the deal. That allowed his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to navigate an extension this summer.

In the end, it all worked out, with Jennings now in the building for the 49ers’ offseason program.

Key offseason dates for the San Francisco 49ers

  • May 28-29, May 31–OTAs
  • June 4-6 – Mandatory Minicamp
