The San Francisco 49ers may have gotten starting quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) back from an extended absence that was due to injury, but they lost another key piece in the process during Sunday’s win in Arizona.
Starting kicker Eddy Piñeiro, who has been a revelation for San Francisco since moving on from former third-round pick Jake Moody earlier this season, suffered a right hamstring injury during Sunday’s 41-22 win over the Cardinals.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan met with the media on Monday to outline the plans for navigating Piñeiro’s absence, as well as offer comments on how San Francisco performed during a much-needed win that kept the faithful in a crowded NFC postseason picture.

“The injuries from the game: [DL] Robert Beal [Jr.] will be in the protocol for a concussion, [LB] Tatum Bethune did have a high ankle sprain, expect him to miss a few weeks, [K] Eddy Piñeiro, right hamstring, I’m sure he’ll miss, you know, he’ll be week-to-week. And that’s it from the game. Go ahead.”
