There’s been no shortage of drama in the Stanley Cup Playoffs so far this year, from massive upsets to ridiculous goals and unreal saves. The San Jose Sharks and Las Vegas Golden Knights have been locked in one of the most entertaining series that I have ever witnessed as an (inconsistent) NHL fan. They say there is nothing like playoff hockey, but this Sharks and Golden Knights war is on a completely different level.

Backs against the wall, at home on Thursday night, San Jose defeated Las Vegas 5-2 to secure another trip to Sin City, where they had yet to win in the series. On Easter Sunday, double overtime was needed for a winner to be decided, and the war of attrition would end with an unexpected turn; a shorthanded Sharks goal.

Tomas Hertl, part of the Sharks’ penalty killing line, found himself with the puck and only one defender to beat, catching the Golden Knights on the back foot after their aggressive attack. What would happen next would stun the Las Vegas crowd, who in their very short NHL tenure have become very used to success.

Facing elimination in two straight games, the Sharks now hold the momentum and advantage, heading home for the ultimate game seven. It’s win or go home for both squads, each with considerable odds to win the Stanley Cup itself. It all comes down to Tuesday night.
