The A’s came into their two-game set winning four of six on their Ohio home stand. Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t carry north for their quick two-game set against the Seattle Mariners.

Monday: Mariners 6, Athletics 5 (10)

Mike Fiers followed up his no-hitter against the Reds by allowing just two hits in five innings, allowing just one run in the first. Oakland tied it on Mark Canha’s third home run of the season.

The A’s scored all five of their run on five home runs, two coming off the bat of Khris Davis. Leading 4-1 in the eighth, Lou Trivino allowed three runs on a home run from Daniel Vogelbach to tie the game at four.

Ramon Laureano hit his fifth home run of the season in the top of the 10th to give Oakland the lead once again but that wouldn’t last. Joakim Soria allowed two in the bottom half of the inning on a Domingo Santana double to give Seattle the win.

Tuesday: Mariners 4, Athletics 3

The Mariners continued hitting home runs on Tuesday night, as all four of their runs came via the long ball.

Vogelbach opened the scoring with his second home run of the series in the second inning and was followed by Tim Beckham’s eighth home run of the season, giving Seattle an early 2-0 lead.

The A’s tied it in the fifth with two runs on a throwing error from Beckham scoring Laureano and Tim Beckham. Mitch Haniger hit the game-winning home run in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring J.P. Crawford.

Oakland would tack one more on in the seventh on a Robbie Grossman single but it wouldn’t be enough.

The A’s are now 19-25 on the season and will have Wednesday off before a four-game set in Detroit.
