Coming off of Monday night’s win over the Golden State Warriors, the Sacramento Kings took the floor for game two of the California Classic inside the Golden 1 Center. The Kings were without Marvin Bagley, who was ruled out for the remainder of the Classic with achilles soreness, Frank Mason and Monday night’s star Wenyen Gabriel.

With head coach Erik Spoelstra in attendance, the Miami Heat improved to 2-0 for the summer, defeating the Kings 89-88. Sacramento led for most of the contest, but fumbled the lead late, allowing for the Heat to steal the victory.

Second round selection Kyle Guy had himself another strong night, scoring 13 points while tallying four rebounds and three assists.

“He’s a high-level shooter you have to respect” said Kings summer league head coach Jesse Mermuys.

Guy’s teammates Hollis Thompson and Eric Mika also turned in strong performances. Mika finished with a 13 point, 14 rebound double-double and Thompson led the Kings in scoring with 18 points.

“I don’t think there is much to be critical about,” said Mermuys, “at the end of the day you want them to play hard, play tough, and I think they’ve done that. I’m pleased”.

Sacramento wraps up the California Classic Wednesday afternoon, taking on the Los Angeles Lakers at 2 P.M.
