Antonio Brown Asks For His Release from the Oakland Raiders

It appears the short Antonio Brown era in Oakland will be coming to an end before playing a single game.

Not even a day has passed since Antonio Brown took the podium saying he was done talking and looking forward to playing with his Oakland Raiders teammates. Less than one day since head coach Jon Gruden said that Brown would play for the Raiders on their Monday night opener.

Early Saturday morning, on Instagram, Brown posted the following:

I have worked my whole life to prove that the system is blind to see talent like mines.Now that everyone sees it, they want me to conform to that same system that has failed me all those years. “I’m not mad at anyone. Brown has been fined over $215 thousand by the Raiders for “conduct detrimental to the team”, followed by Oakland voiding the $29.1 million of guaranteed money on his deal.

I just got an email from Antonio Brown. He tells me the team “took away my guarantees.” He added there’s “no way I play after they took that and made my contract week to week.” So at this moment, once again, don’t expect AB to play on Monday Night Football.
