Without the services of Peja Stojakovic, Türkoğlu shined in a 92-91 win for Sacramento

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Sacramento Kings fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for basketball to make it’s return.

On This Date: March 31, 2002

Then second-year forward Hedo Türkoğlu stepped up in the absence of Peja Stojakovic, scoring 14 points to go along with eight rebounds in a 92-91 win for the Sacramento Kings over the Atlanta Hawks.

Chris Webber had a big game for the Kings, scoring 29 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing seven assists.

Doug Christie scored nine points to go along with five rebounds and five assists, while Gerald Wallace chipped in with 11 points off of the bench. Scott Pollard narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds and nine points.

Türkoğlu would go on to play 15 seasons in the NBA, making the All-Rookie team in 2001 and winning the NBA Most Improved Player award in 2008.

Over 997 career games, Hedo averaged 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 38-percent from beyond the three-point arc. Türkoğlu, the second Turkish player in NBA history, retired in 2015.
