17 years ago today, Bobby Jackson and the Kings beat Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks in Game 1 of the second round

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Sacramento Kings fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for basketball to make its return.

May 4, 2003 – NBA Western Conference Semifinals

Kings 124, Mavericks 113 (SAC leads series 1-0)

The Sacramento Kings had three players score 20 points or more 17 years ago today when they defeated the Dallas Mavericks by a final of 124-113 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Peja Stojakovic was the leading scorer for the Kings, finishing with 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting and nine boards. Chris Webber scored 24 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished nine assists in the win.

Backup point guard Bobby Jackson contributed with 23 points off of the Sacramento bench, hitting three three-pointers and swiping three steals over 26 minutes of action. Jackson, who averaged a career-high 15.2 points per game in 2002-03, was crowned the NBA Sixth Man of the Year for his efforts during the regular season.

Vlade Divac chipped in with 14 points, while Doug Christie flirted with a double-double in scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the 60-win Mavericks. Michael Finley and Steve Nash each scored 20 points in the loss.
