Brewer played in 24 games for Sacramento during the 2018-19 season

He’s back.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Sacramento Kings will sign forward Corey Brewer for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

The 34 year-old played in 24 games for Sacramento, scoring 4.1 points per game while shooting 44-percent from the field and swiping nearly a steal per game (0.8).

Over 12 seasons in the NBA, the former Florida Gator holds career averages of 8.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

Brewer had plenty of interest, but chose to return to the Kings for a postseason push. Sacramento is 3.5 games behind the eighth-seed Memphis Grizzlies with only eight games left to play.

The 2010-11 NBA Champion is excited to get back to basketball and make a playoff push, as the forward told Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston that comfortability played a role in his choice to sign with the Kings:

Brewer played for current Kings head coach Luke Walton from 2016-2017 with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Walton can play Brewer at shooting guard, small forward and even power forward given the matchup. Standing at 6’8 with a 6’9 wingspan and above average quickness, Brewer’s defensive ability will come in handy when the Kings play teams with dominant wings over the final eight games.

As of Tuesday morning, Sacramento has a full 17-man roster.

Players have until Wednesday, June 24th to inform their teams of their plans to play or sit out the season restart at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

We’ll know by Wednesday if the Kings will be taking the current 17-man roster to Orlando, or if more moves could be on the way on the free-agent market.
