The talented center must remain in self-isolation for the next eight days before rejoining the team

Sacramento Kings center Richaun Holmes announced on Monday that he accidentally crossed the NBA Campus lines in Orlando, Florida when receiving a food delivery.

Per the NBA’s new COVID-19 safety protocols, Holmes must remain in self-isolation for 10 days (now eight days) before being cleared to rejoin team workouts.

Dr. Lydecia Holmes, Richaun’s mother, was quick to make light of the situation with a humorous tweet to her son:

Holmes, 26, was in the midst of a breakout year before the NBA season was put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Over 39 games, the 6’10 big has averaged career-highs of 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. His efficiency from the field (65-percent) placed him second in the league before he missed time due to a shoulder injury.

Prior to the hiatus, Holmes was getting back into action after missing 26 games with a partially torn labrum.

Holmes will not be able to return until he has passed the protocols put in place by the league, with the earliest return date being July 21st. The Kings will begin their ‘pre-season’ scrimmage slate on July 22nd, followed by the first game of the season restart shortly after on July 31st.
