Since saying he did not believe the national anthem was the right venue to protest social injustices, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been receiving backlash.

Most recently, Arlington muralist Trey Wilder created a mural as Prescott looking like main character of the movie Get Out, Chris Washington.

The NFL and NFL Players Association came up with an agreement to the anthem protocol after the league announced it was setting aside a ruling that players have to stand if they are on the field for the anthem but may remain in the locker room if they want to.

Prescott was asked for his response to Jerry Jones’ comments that his players are expected to “stand during the anthem, toe on the line,” at the start of the Cowboys training camp:

“I never protest during the anthem, and I don’t think that’s the time or the venue to do so, The game of football has always brought me such a peace, and I think it does the same for a lot of people, a lot of people playing the game, a lot of people watching the game, a lot of people that have any impact of the game. So when you bring such a controversy to the stadium, to the field, to the game, it takes away. It takes away from that. It takes away from the joy and the love that football brings to a lot of people.”

Prescott released his response to the mural, by stating ‘Everybody has their own opinion.’
