Athletics Acquire Shawn Kelley

The Oakland Athletics have acquired RHP Shawn Kelley from the Washington Nationals, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.

The Nationals designated Kelley for assignment on August 1 after Kelley threw his glove to the ground in frustration after allowing a home run to Austin Jackson in the ninth inning of a 25-4 win for Washington. On the season, Kelley has appeared in 35 games, striking out 32 while only allowing five walks in 32.1 innings pitched while having an ERA of 3.34.
