The Super Bowl trophy isn’t named after Tom Brady but it is starting to feel like it should be.

Tom Brady has now won an incredible 7 Super Bowls after his Buccaneers dismantled the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Brady’s final stat line was good at 21-29 for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Those numbers earned him the Super Bowl MVP as well.

His defense was incredible, the running game was good and Brady did his thing again to lead the Buccaneers to their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

The headline leading into the game was about the quarterbacks. Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes. GOAT vs. baby GOAT. This one is for the old guy. Age is just a number after all and Brady makes 43 look very good.

This story began back in March of 2020 when Tom Brady made what appeared to be a risky move but now the reward is “Super” sweet. Brady left the comfort of the New England Patriots. He knew his offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels well. He had been through almost two decades with Bill Belichick. It seemed like he could and would be the Patriots QB for as long as he wanted to.

Their split caused the football world to talk but would just Tom Brady going to Tampa be enough? Immediately chatter spread throughout the NFL of Tompa Bay, and Tampa Brady. Was this non playoff team from 2019 going to have enough to win in 2020?

What we all didn’t realize was getting Brady started a chain reaction. Gronk came out of retirement, Brady convinced the organization to add Antonio Brown and they scooped up Leonard Fournette as well. The thought was if you build it they will come?

Brady was the foundation. That was the piece needed to get this dream going. Brady also brought the belief in being Super Bowl Champions. He didn’t go to Tampa to play out his career. He felt this was a place that could make it happen. His knowledge and experience combined with strong offensive talent and a relentless defense and they would have a chance.

There were bumps in the road along the way. All their losses this season came against playoff teams. The Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and twice to the Saints. They learned from those losses as their playoff journey had rematches with the Saints and of course Kansas City and they came out on top. Brady’s playoff journey included wins over future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

The debate on the GOAT is an impossible one to prove but here is what I would say about Tom Brady. I think of him as the NFL’s all time greatest winner. There are more talented players, heck more talented quarterbacks, but name me a better winner at that position. He now has led two different teams to Super Bowl titles, he has done it in three different decades, and throw in 3 other appearances in the Super Bowl and that is one awesome career.

I found his journey this year a bit more appealing because he wasn’t on New England anymore. No offense to the Patriots or their fans but I did have Patriot fatigue.

I have no connections to Tampa Bay but I am happy for Head Coach Bruce Arians and all the other first time Super Bowl Champions. For Brady this just adds another notch to an incredible legacy. He has set an incredibly high bar that those after him will be chasing.

Good luck.
