According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Sacramento Kings have ended their pursuit of Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Ben Simmons.

Sacramento has been aggressive in its pursuit of the disgruntled star, but Wojnarowski reports that the Kings have turned their attention elsewhere on the trade market.

The asking price for Simmons is steep, something that has clearly deterred Kings general manager Monte McNair as the first-year lead executive made it clear in recent days that the team will not include franchise guard De’Aaron Fox or impressive sophomore Tyrese Haliburton in any deal for Simmons.

Per the report, the asking price for Simmons is too steep and the Kings believe that a pathway to reaching an agreement with Philadelphia “doesn’t exist”.

With the Kings out on Simmons, Wojnarowski reports that McNair and his staff “are determined to reshape their roster and remain engaged on several other fronts” as the February 10th trade deadline approaches.

Sacramento (18-32) has lost five-straight games and 10 of their last 12 contests as the have slid into the 13th spot in the Western Conference standings.
