The 24-year-old injured his wrist during last Tuesday’s game in Boston

Sacramento Kings guard Terence Davis underwent successful surgery to repair a right wrist ECU tendon injury and will be re-evaluated in approximately three months, per the team.

Davis exited last Tuesday night’s loss in Boston after taking a nasty spill following a lay-in attempt over Celtics forward Aaron Nesmith. The guard also received five stitches to repair a laceration above his right eye.

The injury comes at a tough time for Davis, who was thriving in a starting role up until Tuesday’s game in Boston.

Over his last five appearances, the third-year guard was averaging 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game on 48-percent shooting from the field and 42-percent shooting from beyond the three-point line.

Davis’ season is likely over as there are only 30 games and just over 10 weeks remaining in the regular season.

With Davis sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Kings have even more decisions to make regarding the upcoming February 10th trade deadline. It has long been known that Sacramento is looking to unload Buddy Hield and the remaining two years and $40 million remaining on his contract, but Davis was a favorable player that could have slid into Hield’s role.

As we move to within nine days of the deadline, the Kings now have no clear replacement for Hield’s role as bench scorer if the 29-year-old is moved in the coming days.

Sacramento (18-34) has lost seven-straight games (12 of their last 14 overall) as they have fallen to 13th in the Western Conference standings and 3.5 games behind the final Play-In spot.

If the heat wasn’t beginning to turn up for general manager Monte McNair, I would imagine that things are starting to get a bit warm around the basketball operations offices at Golden 1 Center.
