According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, former Cleveland Cavaliers guard and 2016 NBA champion guard Matthew Dellavedova will work out for the Sacramento Kings this weekend in Las Vegas.

Dellavedova, 31, last played in the NBA during the 2020-21 season with the Cavaliers–a season that the veteran guard played sparingly due to a variety of ailments that included a concussion, whiplash, an emergency appendectomy, and a neck strain.

Over eight NBA seasons, the 6’3 Australian holds career averages of 5.5 points, 3.7 assists, and 0.5 steals per game on 38 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

During the 2021-22 season while playing with Melbourne United in Australia, Dellavedova averaged 10.3 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game on 39 percent shooting from the field.

It’s unknown what Kings general manager Monte McNair plans to do with Dellavedova if the team is to sign the veteran guard to a minimum deal, but it’s fair to assume that the role would be for a third-string point guard behind De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell.

A lot remains to be seen with the possibility of Sacramento signing Dellavedova, but this is something to keep an eye on as the Kings meet with the guard in Las Vegas during the coming days.
