After nearly a month of speculation, the mystery surrounding Bulgarian forward Sasha Vezenkov’s future has been resolved.

According to FOX 40’s Sean Cunningham, the 26-year-old will remain in Greece for the 2022-23 season, where he will play for his EuroLeague club, Olympiacos B.C.

After the Sacramento Kings acquired Vezenkov’s NBA rights during a draft day deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers back on June 23rd, questions regarding the Greek League MVP’s future started to make their way around the basketball world. Vezenkov was rumored to be interested in a move to the NBA, but will reportedly return to play another season in Piraeus, Greece.

Vezenkov had until July 20th to exercise the NBA out-out clause in his contract, but it’s now clear that he will not be doing so in the coming days.

Over 21 games for Olympiacos this season, Vezenkov averaged 14.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 37 percent from beyond the three-point stripe.

Per Cunningham, the possibility remains that Sacramento will bring Veznekov to the NBA in 2023-24.
