Carr, Adams Discuss Excitement Ahead Of First Home Game Together At Allegiant Stadium

The Las Vegas Raiders opened the 2022 NFL season on the road. That means the excitement of playing at home was delayed. But, as we get closer to Sunday, the excitement builds for guys like Derek Carr or Davante Adams, who’s playing his first game at Allegiant Stadium.

“I’m excited, man. I know I’ve been getting a lot of good feedback from the fans and seeing the things they’ve been saying and hearing them in the preseason in the stadium and them being excited to see me play,” Adams told media Wednesday. “It’s a lot more of obviously what happened this past game that I’m hoping to put on tape and come out with some W’s for this city. The warm welcome that I felt from them – I continue to feel it every day whether it’s virtually or in person if I run into somebody. Real excited, can’t wait to get out there.”

Carr echoed those remarks, reminding everyone how fun and loud the Raider Nation can be at home.

“Our crowd is so loud, it’s always a fun atmosphere at home,” Carr said. “Any home Raider game is an experience and I always have a blast in front of our home crowd, and I love our fans here in Las Vegas. When we came here, no one knew the home field advantage, what would that be like? Would it be the same as Oakland? And Oakland was a special place. But being here in Vegas, they’ve been every bit the Raider Nation. It’s been loud and it’s been exciting. Hopefully, it’ll be an advantage for us again this year, but I’m excited to have our fans back.”

And some of those cheers will come from the Adams Family, too. For the first time ever, Davante said his grandparents will see him play professionally. He joked that the suites at Allegiant Stadium are more expensive than they were in Green Bay, but it’s good if they’re filled with his family.

Adams was also asked about his relationship with Derek Carr. The duo played together in college before being drafted to different teams. Now reunited, the two routinely and quickly discuss everything related to the game and their lives.

“As soon as we get on the bus, as soon as we have an opportunity to talk, it’s time to reflect, whether or not he threw for 500 (yards) or if it was a game like this past game. It’s always something that you can build and be better at. That’s typically how we look at it, and if there was some good stuff, we celebrate that stuff as well. We’re not scared to feel good about our accomplishments. We put a lot into it, a lot of hard work and a lot of time and effort. We don’t really stop and smell the rosesthe way everybody else does, but between us the way we converse we definitely like to acknowledge it that way you can even build off the stuff that you did. It’s not just about, ‘Look, we’re so great,’ but we talk about why we did well on certain plays or why we did well in the first half versus the second half and different things like that.”
