This Sunday’s contest came a bit too quick for the 49ers as tight end George Kittle will miss his second straight game due to an injury.

The former All-Pro TE sustained a groin injury after the Labor Day practice, forcing Kittle to sit out the team’s Week 1 contest in Chicago. The tight end returned to practice Friday, opening the door for a chance to play against the Seattle Seahawks.

“I don’t know what probable means, but he’s healthier seven days later than he was last week when he was questionable,” head coach Kyle Shanahan stated Friday.

He added that Kittle looked “awesome” during Friday’s practice but that his status was still to be determined.

Joining Kittle on the inactive list for the 49ers is QB Brock Purdy (healthy scratch), OL Daniel Brunskill (hamsting), DL Kemoko Turay (healthy scratch) and OL Nick Zakelj (healthy scratch).

The Seahawks also have a few inacitves listed with cornerbacks Artie Burns and Justin Coleman leading the way. The rest of the inactives FS Joey Blount, T Jake Curhan, WR Dareke Young and DT Myles Adams.

Regardless of the inactives, the 49ers are happy to be back home at Levi’s Stadium.

“You always choose the crowd and being in your own stadium because that’s such a big factor,” Shanahan said this week. “I mean, every play starts with a snap count and cadence. And that’s everything for O-line and D-linemen. So anytime you get a chance to be back home and know you don’t have to worry about [crowd noise] on the road and the opposing team coming in does. That pumps your guys up, it pumps our whole team up, it pumps our D-line up. And man as our O-line glad that we don’t have to be on the silent [count].”
