As we move within one week of training camp, the Sacramento Kings have announced the signings of two NBA veterans.

On Wednesday morning, the team announced that they have brought in guard/forward Kent Bazemore and guard Quinn Cook to participate in training camp as both players will hope to make the final roster come mid-October.

Bazemore, 33, is back for his second tour of duty with Sacramento after being acquired in a midseason trade with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2019-20 season. The 6’4 veteran holds career averages of 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game on 35 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Cook, 29, is a two-time NBA champion (one with the Golden State Warriors in 2017-18 and one with the 2019-20 Los Angeles Lakers) that has logged five seasons at the professional level.

The former Duke Blue Devil holds career averages of 6.4 points and 1.6 steals per game while holding an impressive 40 percent three-point field goal percentage over 441 attempts.

Bazemore and Cook will enter camp with hopes of securing final roster spots, but there will be competition for both players come next week. NBA champion and longtime veteran Matthew Dellavedova will challenge Cook for the third-string point guard spot, while Bazemore, KZ Okpala, Sam Merrill, and Chima Moneke will battle for one-to-two spots on the final roster.

Sacramento’s roster now stands at 20 players–the training camp maximum–as they head into next week’s media day and start of camp. As we get closer to the beginning of the regular season (October 19th), the Kings will need to trim its roster down to 15 players.

Let the training camp competitions begin!
