Stephen Vogt has announced that once the 2022 season is over, his MLB career will end, too.

On Thursday, the Oakland A’s catcher announced his retirement following the conclusion of the 2022 season.

Vogt, a fan favorite in Oakland, has been a member of the A’s for six of his 10 years in the league. The 37-year-old catcher debuted with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2012 before joining the A’s the following season. During his time in Oakland, he was voted to the All-Star game twice in 2015 and 2016 while hitting .247.

Fans got behind Vogt quickly in Oakland, lamenting him with his own chant, “I believe in Stephen Vogt!”

Before rejoining the A’s in 2021, Vogt helped the Atlanta Braves win the World Series in 2020. He also played for the Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The A’s plan to celebrate Vogt’s time with the club during their last game against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
