With big names added in the offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders probably did not expect to start the season 0-2.

But following an overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals, that’s where the team finds itself heading into Week 3.

As the team prepares for the Tennessee Titans, who also started the season o-2, they face a sense of urgency to turn things around.

“Any way you lose, obviously there’s different ways – if you get blown out, I guess it’s a little different sense of urgency,” Raiders receiver Davante Adams said. “But loss is a loss at this point. We’ve got to figure it out, and the urgency is definitely there right now. There’s a lot that went into why we didn’t win that football game this past week, but at the end of the day a loss is a loss. So, we have to be on our stuff and get ready and go out there and get a win now.”

The Titans have a short week to prepare for the Raiders after being blown out in Buffalo Monday 41-7. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels knows Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel from their time together in New England. He knows Vrabel won’t let Monday’s loss get in his team’s way of getting their first win.

“They don’t concede one yard on defense. I don’t care what play it is, what game it is, they’re not going to give you anything,” McDaniels said. “They want to control and dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides. They do the same thing in the kicking game. So, there’s no question that the way he wants to play, you can see it. Put any game film on you want and it’s going to jump out at you. I’m sure he’ll have them ready to go this week, he always does, and they play the way that he wants them to play.”

And while Adams might see this upcoming game with a sense of urgency, McDaniels and Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr see it another way, that every game should be played with the same level of urgency.

“We don’t ever take the field to do anything other than win,” McDaniels said. “So, we have the same urgency this week as we have.”

“He’s [coach McDaniels] just teaching us that there’s no heightened sense of anything. It should always be heightened,” Carr said.
