For this week’s edition of ‘Stat of the Week’, we’re looking at one of the more exclusive clubs in Sacramento Kings history:

The 40-point, 10-assist club.

Throughout the 75-year history of the Sacramento Kings (previously known as the Kansas City Kings, Kansas City-Omaha Kings, Cincinnati Royals, and Rochester Royals), only five players have scored 40+ points and dished out 10+ assists in a single game:

  • Oscar Robertson – 46 times (1960-1970)
  • Tiny Archibald – 23 times (1971-1973)
  • De’Aaron Fox – 2 times (2020-2022)
  • Tom Van Arsdale – 1 time (1971-72)
  • Jack Twyman – 1 time (1959-60)

Hall of Famers Oscar Robertson and Tiny Archibald certainly are no strangers to the 40-10 club, as both guards combined to log 69 games with 40+ points and 10+ assists.

Current Kings guard De’Aaron Fox is the most recent player to join the club–and the first player in the Sacramento-era (1985-present) to do so–as the talented guard scored a then-career-high 43 points (17-of-27 from the field) and handed out 13 assists during a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans back on January 17, 2021.

Fox had another 40-10 showing on March 12, 2022 against the Utah Jazz, scoring 41 points to go along with 11 assists in a 134-125 loss in Salt Lake City.

Fox was one of only nine players to post a 40-point, 10-assist stat-line in 2021-22, as the other eight members of the club logged All-Star appearances during February’s NBA All-Star game in Cleveland, Ohio:

  • Trae Young (4 times)
  • Ja Morant (2 times)
  • Nikola Jokic (2 times)
  • Darius Garland
  • De’Aaron Fox
  • Joel Embiid
  • Luka Doncic
  • Steph Curry
  • Devin Booker

If the Kings can pile more wins into the ‘W’ column, Fox will assuredly find himself among his peers in this season’s All-Star game in Salt Lake City, Utah.
