Friday’s session was no different for 49ers defensive tackle Arik Armstead, missing another day of practice while dealing with plantar fasciitis.
Armstead sustained the injury last week at practice, forcing him to miss Week 3’s contest against the Denver Broncos. While his stats is unclear at this time, the coaching staff is “hopeful” to have him back out there against the Los Angeles Rams Monday night.
“[Armstead] was real close to going and we thought he did good in that workout before the game. But we held him back and it’s still the same today as it was on game-day so hopefully, it’d be good by Monday,” Shanahan said.
Joining the defensive tackle on the injury report Friday is LT Trent Williams (ankle), RB Ty Davis-Price (ankle), LB Azeez Al-Shaair (knee), TE Tyler Kroft (knee). WR Danny Gray (hip), DT Javon Kinlaw (knee) and TE Ross Dwelley (ribs) also join the injury list today, most doing work off to the side of the practice field.
However, some feel-good news came the Red & Gold’s way as longtime running backs coach Bobby Turner returned to the team Friday.
Turner, 73, had knee surgery over the offseason that was supposed to keep him away from the organization through the 2022 season. Determined to get back to coaching, Turner shocked the players with an appearance Friday afternoon.
Here's video of 73-year 49ers RB coach Bobby Turner, back out on the practice field. Some had assumed he'd retire, but Turner insisted that he'd be back after rehabbing from knee surgery. And now Turner is back to help the 49ers offense https://t.co/OGmzbuql2D

The 49ers host the Rams Monday night at Levi’s Stadium. It is unclear what Turner’s duties will be alongside current RB coach Antony Lynn, but best believe he’ll be a part of the team regardless.
