A huge sigh of relief for The Faithful Monday.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed via conference call that injuries to right tackle Mike McGlinchey and cornerback Charvarius “Mooney” Ward were viewed as “day-to-day.”

McGlinchey suffered a calf contusion during the second quarter of Sunday’s game in Atlanta. The offensive lineman tried to play through it but was seen in visible discomfort before being ruled out at halftime. The latter suffered a groin strain early in the second quarter as well, standing on the sideline with his helmet until the halftime whistle. He was also ruled out for the rest of the contest.

Injuries that could have been much worse, the 49ers catch a break for once.

The 49ers weren’t as lucky with other injuries as safety Talonoa Hufanga is now in the concussion protocol. “Huff” suffered the head injury early in the first quarter, coming in and out of the game until he stayed in for the rest of the day. The young safety passed tests during and postgame Sunday but showed symptoms Monday. His status for Week 7 is unclear at this time.

San Francisco is still without starting defensive tackles Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) and Javon Kinlaw (knee), and could be without them for a little while longer, too. Kinlaw went on short-term IR over the weekend, while Armstead is looking very unlikely to play in Week 7.

“It’s a huge loss for us right now,” Shanahan said about Armstead. “Same with Javon, not having him in there either. I’d be very surprised if he’s back this week but hopefully he’ll have a chance, maybe [Week 8 against the LA Rams] then we’ll have our bye week which gives him another week to get him back by then, but we’re still not sure.”

While the Sacramento native is unlikely to suit up, defensive end Nick Bosa (groin) and left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) could return against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday. Bosa missed Week 6 due to a groin strain sustained in Week 5 in Charlotte. Williams suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos. Both players have a chance to play Sunday afternoon, per the head coach.

“A lot better than last week,” Kyle Shanahan said regarding their playing chances. “I’m really hoping for it, [I] think there’s a decent chance.”

Safety Jimmie Ward could also return to the field soon after having surgery to repair his broken hand last week. Ward would have to play with a soft cast over the injury, and while his availability this week is unlikely, he could see the field in Week 8 in Los Angeles.

“They’re saying he’s doing really good post-surgery… chance to play with his cast on,” the head coach added. “Might be a little too optimistic for this week…Hope it’s this week but too early for me to know for sure.”
