The Sacramento River Cats unveiled its logo as part of “Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond” series.

The logo transforms the ferocious river cat into a Rocket Raccoon-looking animal. In all, 96 Marvel creations will be paired with MiLB teams. Marvel and MiLB first announced the partnership in October 2021.

“The first phase of MiLB’s groundbreaking partnership with Marvel Entertainment delivered on our promise to bring our unique brand of fun and entertainment to more fans across the country,” Kurt Hunzeker, Major League Baseball’s Vice President of Minor League Business Operations, said in a press release. “When you combine the creative power of these two storied brands, the promotions, events, and now merchandise fans will see in ballparks and retail stores in the years ahead will create memories that will be passed from generation to generation, and we are beyond excited to share these new team-specific logos and characters Marvel created as we build excitement for the 2023 baseball season.”

Sarah Hebel, Director of Marketing with the Sacramento River Cats, said in the team’s press release that last year’s Marvel’s “Defenders of the Diamond” game was a success and the team is excited to build on that success in 2023.

“Our Marvel-inspired River Cats logo, which will be sported on the hats and jerseys worn by the team during next season’s Defenders of the Diamond game, allows us to reach new fans, while also celebrating those that share the passions of both Marvel and baseball,” Hebel said.

Team apparel goes on sale Friday, Nov. 18.
