For the first time since 2014, the Las Vegas Raiders were shut out Sunday in their loss to New Orleans.

Oddly enough, that season the Silver and Black were coached by Dennis Allen, the now coach of the New Orleans Saints. Allen was fired by the Raiders after an 0-4 start.

On Sunday, the Raiders came out of the gate flat and never recovered. Quarterback Derek Carr was sacked three times and had one interception on 101 total yards thrown. He was pulled late in the fourth quarter for backup Jarrett Stidham. Josh Jacobs’s three-game streak of 100+ yards rushing came to an end Sunday when he only totaled 43 yards. And wide receiver Davante Adams, who was questionable coming into Sunday’s match, recorded one catch for three yards.

“That right there was embarrassing and that should never happen, especially with the group of guys in that locker room,” Carr said when asked about why the Raiders were outplayed after the game. “We gotta take a look at ourselves though, and really check and see how we want to go into this next game.”

Carr went on to say the team’s response needs to be more urgency.

On Monday, coach Josh McDaniels said the team can still turn the season around.

“It’s a long year. I believe we haven’t reached our best football yet and it’s going to take work and progress and improvement in order to do that,” McDaniels said. “I think there’s 12 or 13 teams right now that have a winning record and there is so many games and so much football left to be played, and there’s a lot of things that we need to do better. We need to coach and play better to earn better results. Consistency is going to be what we’re going to try to push for. If we can do that and start playing our best football here and start stringing together some wins, you look up at the end of the year and a lot of things can happen.”
