The XFL is coming back, for the third time, and now we know the name of the teams.

On Halloween, the league being relaunched by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, his ex-wife Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners, announced the name and logos for all eight teams.

While there are no teams in California, the West Coast will house Seattle Sea Dragons and Vegas Vipers. Additional teams include:

  • Arlington Renegades
  • D.C. Defenders
  • Houston Roughnecks
  • Orlando Guardians
  • San Antonio Brahmas
  • St. Louis Battlehawks

The league debuted under the WWE umbrella in 2001 with fewer rules and leaned heavily into the sports entertainment aspect of wrestling. However, it only lasted only one season. Vince McMahon tried to restart the league in 2020, but the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He later sold the rights to Johnson.

This time around, the league will have some familiar faces. NFL veterans and former coaches Wade Phillips, Hines Ward, Jim Haslett, and Rod Woodson are all attached to coach.

“Every one of these logos has a unique energy, intensity, and electricity that each team and their fans will bring on game day. Now is the time for our fans to get behind a team – THEIR team – and wear these logos and represent their city with pride,” Owner Dwayne Johnson said in a press release announcing the names and logos. “From the start, Dany, Gerry, and I have wanted to deliver our fans nothing but the best, and it is motivating to see our creative vision come to life. We have our cities, our team identities, and our rockstar coaches. Now we get to fill our rosters with hungry and deserving players that will wear their uniforms with XFL pride.”
