NBA Two-Minute Report Confirms Tyler Herro Traveled vs Kings

The NBA’s Two-Minute Report has spoken.

According to the league’s assessment of Wednesday night’s officiating during the final minutes of the Sacramento Kings’ game against the Miami Heat, guard Tyler Herro traveled before taking his game-winning three-pointer.

Herro drilled a three-pointer with 1.8 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Heat a 110-107 lead, a shot that would prove fatal for Sacramento as they had no timeouts remaining and were forced to inbound the ball under Miami’s basket.

The Kings wouldn’t have a chance at tying the game as center Domantas Sabonis was called for an offensive foul upon catching the inbound pass, sealing the win for the Heat and snapping Sacramento’s two-game winning streak.

Shortly following Wednesday’s game, Kings head coach Mike Brown adamantly stated that Herro committed a traveling violation during his final shot, as it appeared that the Sixth Man of the Year award winner lifted his left pivot foot and subtly slid over to his right side to free himself from Terence Davis.

“We’ve got a lot of respect for the program, the Miami Heat, (coach Erik Spoelstra) and everything they’ve done, and Tyler Herro’s a great player, but he traveled,” Brown said during his post-game press conference. “To pump fake, then side-step or hop, then one-two into the shot, and not make that call is just unbelievable. I don’t think we got a fair whistle. I hope when the officials go back and look at the game, they can see it.

“He traveled on the last play and I would not be doing my job if I didn’t come up here and protect my guys.”

In response to Brown’s traveling claim, Herro stated that he felt the play was clean, adding that situations like that can go either way as we have seen them go for carrying calls–much like Golden State Warriors guard Jordan Poole was whistled for on three separate occasions during Tuesday’s game in Miami.

“I got all the space I needed to knock it down,” Herro said. “Great win for us…I don’t think that it was a travel. It’s just like last night with Jordan Poole. You can call a carry on every play just like you can call a travel on every play.”

Chalk this one up as another game that the Sacramento Kings narrowly lost due to an error by the officiating staff.
