Can the Sacramento Kings light the beam for the fifth-straight game?

We’ll find out tonight when the Kings face the San Antonio Spurs (6-9) at Golden 1 Center as Sacramento’s four-game home stand continues.

Tuesday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets was one for the books as the Kings put their offensive firepower on display in front of a national TV audience. Thanks to Terence Davis’ 31-point outing and 83 points from the bench, Sacramento scored 153 points–the most in a single game from the franchise in over 29 years–during a blowout win.

The Kings are looking for their first five-game winning streak since March 22-29, 2021.

What To Watch For

Attack, attack, attack

14 games into the season, this is likely the worst defensive opponent that the Kings have faced thus far.

San Antonio is currently dead last in the NBA in opponent points per game (119.5), 28th in defensive rating (116.8), 29th in points allowed in the paint (54.4), and last in opponent three-point field goal percentage (39.2%).

The Kings own one of the league’s best offenses, which was fully on display during Tuesday’s 153-point display. Games like Thursday’s against San Antonio will be a solid temperature check of where this team is when it comes to winning games that you should win.

After shooting 60 percent from the field and 48 percent from three-point land against Brooklyn, Sacramento will attempt to put on an encore performance against a Spurs team that has struggled to create stops this season.

More Bench Production

During the first week-plus of the season, the Kings’ bench looked like a glaring weakness. Now, it’s beginning to look like one of their strengths.

Sacramento racked up 83 bench points on Tuesday behind a massive 31-point performance from Terence Davis and contributions from Malik Monk (15 points), Trey Lyles (12 points), and Davion Mitchell (8 points).

Entering play against the Spurs, the Kings are fourth in the NBA when it comes to bench scoring (41.6 points per game). As bad as San Antonio’s defense might be, they have been one of the teams in the league that has had more production out of their bench than Sacramento.

The Spurs currently sit at second in the NBA on the bench scoring leaderboard (42.7 points per game). It could be a second-unit-heavy matchup at Golden 1 Center.

Injury Report

Sacramento Kings rookie Keegan Murray is currently listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game due to back soreness.

During Tuesday’s game against the Nets, Murray appeared to be in discomfort after making a lung for a pass during the second quarter. Moments later, Murray exited the game and went into the locker room before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Murray’s injury isn’t believed to be serious, and his status for Tuesday vs San Antonio will be evaluated following morning shoot-around.
