Records set during Sac State’s historic perfect season

On Saturday, the Sacramento State Hornets capped off a historic season with a 28-21 win over the UC Davis Aggies.

That win resulted in the school’s first 11-0 season and clinched the Hornet’s third Big Sky Conference title. The Hornets are riding a 19-game conference winning streak heading into the college playoffs, the second longest in conference history.

While the Aggies lead the all-time series at 46-23, Sac State has won the last three meetings.

Saturday’s win saw the Hornets set a couple of records being set, both for the game and for the overall season. The Hornets tweeted that the crowd was the largest in school history, with 23,073 people showing up to watch this year’s Causeway Classic. The game also saw the largest crowd for the Big Sky Conference on Saturday, Nov. 19.

And a few players etched their names in school history, too.

• Asher O’Hara rushed for 50 yards Saturday. His total for the season ended at 797 rushing yards, now the most by a quarterback in Sac State history.
• Kicker Kyle Sentkowski added three PAT Saturday, pushing his total to 60 on the year. That sets the school’s single-season record.
• Senior receiver Pierre Williams moved into second all-time in career receiving yards after he ended his afternoon with two catches for 9 yards.

The Hornets earned one of the top two seeds in the FCS playoffs. With the spot, they earn a bye for the playoffs that begin this Saturday.
