It’s well-known in football that the crowd and atmosphere in Seattle are second to none.

The stadium has gotten so loud that in 2013, the fans reached 136.6 decibels, setting the then-Guinness World Record for the loudest stadium.  That record has since been broken by the Raiders’ division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.

As the 3-7 Las Vegas Raiders prepare to take on the 6-4 Seahawks, coach Josh McDaniels knows he has to work the elements into his game plan.

“Yeah, the noise will be the same as we’ve done, I’d say, with Kansas City and a handful of other places, Denver, where we’ve had certainly loud music or the airplane runway, where you can’t hear anything out there when we’re on offense or in the kicking units,” McDaniels said. “So, we’ll simulate that same thing.”

Another element he will have to plan for is, well, the elements. Forecasts on Wednesday call for clouds and a 70% chance of rain on Sunday. McDaniels said practice this week will include whether ball handling, quarterback-center exchanges, snapping to the specialists, and throwing and catching a ball with a little moisture on it.

“I mean, we’re not going to have the sprinkler system on when we’re practicing, but we’ll do as much as we can to try to simulate some of the things that I think our guys don’t have as much repetition at the best we can do right now,” McDaniels said.
