The Sacramento Kings are fun to watch right now. From Band-aids and purple beams, fans are turning out to support their team.

And when fans head to the Golden 1 Center to back the Beam Team, they’re paying a pretty penny.

According to a new study from California Casinos, all four California NBA teams ranked within the top 10 for most expensive game-day experiences. A game-day experience includes a ticket, two beers, one hotdog and parking and all that for one person attending a Sacramento Kings game averages about $130.

Parking also impacts someone’s decision to attend an NBA game.

When it comes to parking, finding a cheap parking spot in California or New York isn’t easy. It costs Warriors fans about $45 and Knicks fans normally shell out $38 if they decide to skip public transportation.

More than 2 in 5 (41%) NBA fans actually do not go to games because of poor parking or traffic. Specifically, we found 57% of Californians have skipped going to a game because of traffic or parking situations.

Recent inflation has also impacted people’s decisions to attend a game.

“In a survey of more than 1,000 people, 54% say they likely won’t attend an NBA game this season because of inflation and costs,” Matthew Bain of California Casinos wrote.

Not surprisingly, teams in the South or Midwest, minus Chicago, tend to offer cheaper experiences for NBA fans. California Casinos combined data from the Team Marketing Report’s 2021-2022 NBA Fan Cost Index report and through surveying over 1,000 people.
