On a wet and wild Thursday edition of San Francisco 49ers practice, only wide receiver Deebo Samuel was missing from the group.

Samuel was not seen on the field during the media portion of practice Thursday, only one day after practicing in a limited fashion. The playmaker is dealing with a quad injury this week. He took a big hit in the endzone during Week 12’s contest against the New Orleans Saints. The blow from a Saints’ defender left Deebo Samuel on the ground for a few minutes, eventually walking off the field under his own power.

He had previously been dealing with a hamstring injury, missing Week 8 against the LA Rams. After not being listed on the injury report Monday, Samuel’s status for Week 13 is definitely in the air.

Meanwhile, running back Christian McCaffrey is back on the practice field after being held out Wednesday with knee irritation. Starting off to the side, CMC worked his way onto the field, seen doing full sprints while catching passes from the quarterbacks.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has been non-committal on his status for this Sunday’s game but seemed optimistic that he would be okay to go against the Miami Dolphins.

“It’s keeping him from going today, so I hope [he can go for Week 13],” Shanahan said Wednesday.

Additionally, defensive tackle Arik Armstead was on hand for his third consecutive practice Thursday. The Sacramento native has been dealing with foot and ankle injuries that have kept him out of the lineup since the fourth quarter of Week 4.

Defensive end Charles Omenihu and rookie guard Spencer Burford also returned to practice Thursday, both held out the previous day due to injuries.
