People in the Bay Area are taking notice of how the Kings are playing.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was asked about his friend and former assistant coach Mike Brown and the work he’s done in Sacramento. Brown joined the Warriors staff in 2016, helping them win three NBA championships. He left the team this year after he was hired by Sacramento to coach the Kings.

The two teams have faced off three times already this year, with the Warriors holding a 2-1 edge over Sacramento. The last time the teams faced off, the Kings won 122-115. They don’t face off for the final time until April 7, 2023.

When asked about the Kings’ start to the season, Steve Kerr had nothing but positive things to say about Brown, saying he’s “killing it” in Sacramento.

“When we played them early in the season, you could see it was coming together,” Kerr said. “By the time we played them the third time, they had already formed an identity, playing through [Domantas] Sabonis, with all that three-point shooting, but really executing. They do a lot of good stuff offensively that Mike and his staff have put in and the players are executing well. So they’re having a great season, a great start to the season and I’m happy to see that for Mike, LB [Leandro Barbosa] and their staff.”

The Sacramento Kings are off to a hot start. Through 22 games, they’re 5th in the Western Conference with a 13-9 record. They are top five in the NBA for offensive rating, top 10 for net rating, and top 20 for defensive rating. Sacramento is also on a three-game winning streak.
