The San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback started his first game on Sunday at Levi Stadium. Four days following the team’s win against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers, Brock Purdy and the Niners head north for a division matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

Lumen Field is known to be one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. The stadium has gotten so loud that in 2013, the fans reached 136.6 decibels, setting the then-Guinness World Record for the loudest stadium.  That record has since been broken by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Regardless of who holds the record for the loudest stadium, it’s something Brock Purdy is prepared to take on.

“Yeah, I think this is probably the most hostile environment that you could probably play in. Either here or Arrowhead, so I’m excited for it,” Purdy said. “All these guys have played here a bunch of times, so just hearing them out, what’s good and what’s not in terms of communication and operation. So, we’ll be ready to roll for it.”

With four years as the quarterback at Iowa State, the former Cyclone knows a thing or two about hostile environments from his time in the Big 12 Conference. When asked what was the “most daunting atmosphere” he thinks he’s played in, he said the University of Oklahoma.

“Probably Norman, Oklahoma. Yeah, against [the University of Oklahoma] OU. Every time we went down there, it was always a great game, and those people just, I feel like were breathing down our necks,” Purdy said. “It was 90-plus thousand people, so you really can’t hear yourself think or anything. So that was probably one of the best environments I’ve ever played in.”
