If we’ve seen the last of Derek Carr in a Raiders uniform, then he leaves behind a lasting legacy with the Silver and Black.

On Wednesday, coach Josh McDaniels announced Carr would sit the final two games of the 2022 season and would be replaced with backup Jarrett Stidham. On the team’s injury report, Carr is listed as NIR (not injury related), seemingly confirming a report by Ian Rapoport that Carr won’t be back at the Raiders’ facilities for the remainder of the season.

Drafted in 2014 with the 26th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Derek Carr holds multiple records as a nine-year starter for the Raiders, including:

  • Carr leads the franchise with 35,222 passing yards. Second on the list is Ken Stabler at 19,078.
  • When he surpassed 35,000 passing yards this season, he became only the fourth player in NFL history to accomplish this feat in his first nine seasons.
  • With 217 passing touchdowns, Carr again has a substantial lead over the next man on the list, who is again Ken Stabler at 150.
  • In 2021, Carr set the single-season passing record for the Raiders by throwing for 4,804 yards. For single-season passing, Carr appears in four of the top five spots. The only other Raiders quarterback to appear in the top five is Rich Gannon who threw for 4,689 yards in 2002.
  • Carr sits only behind Gannon for the quarterback rushing yards, with 845 to Gannon’s 1,258.
  • Daryle Lamonica holds the franchise record for touchdowns thrown in a single season at 34 in 1969. However, next on the list is Carr, who threw 32 touchdowns in 2015, his second season.
  • In his nine-year career, he leads the franchise in completed passes with 3,201 passes, more than double the next man on the list.

The 31-year-old quarterback also sits at number four on the NFL’s list of all-time fourth-quarter comeback leaders.
