Buddy Hield is not afraid to take a three-point shot.

That’s something Kings fans know from his time in Sacramento. And now, Buddy’s penchant for his quick shots has landed him in the NBA record books.

On Thursday night, the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers faced off with Jarrett Allen winning the tipoff against Myles Turner, but the direction of the ball went backward, right into Hield’s hands. The Pacers guard caught the ball, turned to his basket and threw up the shot. The ball went in with only three second coming off the game clock.

That shot broke a record that’s been standing for 22 years. In 2000, Pacers legend Reggie Miller launched a three-point shot four seconds into the game. Now, Hield holds the NBA record for the fastest three-pointer scored.

While his relationship with the fans was up and down, he does hold some records for his six seasons as a Sacramento Kings. Buddy Hield ranks first in franchise history in 3-point field goals (1,248) and 3-point field goal attempts (3,101) and tied for third in free throw percentage (.863).

The Pacers ended up winning that game against the Cavs, 135-126, with Hield finishing with 5 of 6 from beyond the three-point line for a total of 25 points.
