Nearly one month ago, reports surfaced that free agent shortstop Carlos Correa and the San Francisco Giants reached an agreement on a 13-year, $350 million contract.

That agreement lasted about two weeks when Correa surprisingly agreed to a 12-year, $315 million contract with the New York Mets. The change of mind allegedly happened because the Giants expressed concerns about something that came up in the shortstop’s physical and Correa’s camp moved to another offer.

Well, you can probably guess where this is going.

The Mets also apparently saw something in Correa’s physical that gave them pause, a leg injury from when he was in the minors. Now, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman is reporting at least one new team is making moves to acquire the free agent.

“Carlos Correa’s camp renewed contact with at least another interested team or two beyond the Mets on Thursday as negotiations over proposed contract language changes in the agreed-upon $315 million, 12-year deal ran into at least a hiccup or two.”

Heyman goes on to say the Twins are one of the teams Correa’s agent and Elk Grove native Scott Boras checked with. Last year with Minnesota, Carlos Correa batted .291 with 22 home runs, 64 RBI, and an .834 slugging percentage over 136 appearances.

Heyman’s report goes on to say the Mets are confident they’ll land Correa.

It isn’t known how serious those talks with outside teams may be, but one Mets person, who said he was aware Correa’s camp was at least touching base with others, still struck a note of faith that the Mets would get it done when he predicted, “Ultimately, I don’t think Mr. Cohen is going to let him go,” referring to club owner Steve Cohen.
