The Las Vegas Raiders are giving themselves one more to either trade or release Derek Carr.

According to a new report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the organization has set Feb. 15, 2023, as the date to figure out what to do with their former starting quarterback.

“At that point, Carr’s $40.4M in salary over the next two seasons becomes fully guaranteed,” Rapoport tweeted Thursday. “Any decision on a possible trade would come before then.”

The Athletic’s Vic Tafur added that if the team can’t find a trade partner by the day after Valentine’s Day, the Raiders are expected to release Carr.

Derek Carr was benched before the Week 17 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. On Thursday, he posted an emotional goodbye to the Raider Nation on social media.

“Raider Nation, it breaks my heart I didn’t get an opportunity to say goodbye in person. We certainly have been on a roller coaster in our 9 years together. From the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful and appreciative of the years of support you have to my family and me. We had our share of both heart breaking moments and thrilling game winning drives, and it always felt like you were there next to me. It’s especially hard to say goodbye because I can honestly say that I gave everything I had, every single day, in season, and in the off season. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but I hope that I was able to leave you with more than a few great memories as Raiders fans.”
