The San Francisco Giants announced they have signed 23 international prospects, with outfielder Arias Rayner leading the group.

According to the team, the signings include 11 players from Venezuela, eight from the Dominican Republic, two from Mexico, one from Curacao and one from Taiwan. Positions range to all over the field, with pitchers leading the pack.

The most notable name of the group was Rayner, signing a $2.8 million deal, according to MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez. The Giants had $5,284,000 to sign players.

The 16-year-old Dominican Republic native ranked number 15 on MLB’s Pipeline’s Top 50 International Prospects. His prospect page bio compares him to a young Eloy Jiménez, of the Chicago White Sox.

The son of a former Minor League player and current scout, Arias grew up in the game, and it shows. The athletic teen displays an advanced baseball IQ, plus makeup and leadership qualities that set him apart. He never seems overmatched in any situation, and that’s very appealing for a team that wants to sign him.

The San Diego Padres used most of their $5.8 million pool to sign catcher Ethan Calas of Venezuela, the top prospect of the signing period.
