The MLB is going international!

Tokyo, Japan will host the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners, to open up the 2019 MLB season, for a two-game series on March 20th and 21st.

In March of 2012, Oakland and Seattle played a two-game set inside the Tokyo Dome. The teams split the series, the Athletics winning the second game 4-1 behind Yoenis Cespedes’ first career home run.

“If we’re in the running, I’d be 100 percent all for it,” Athletics manager Bob Melvin told The San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser. “Not only did we have a great time, it’s a life lesson as much as anything, but it significantly helped our team come together in 2012.”

On top of the Tokyo series, the MLB continues to share the game of baseball internationally with regular season series’ in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
